Ali M. Collins, website founder
Ali M. Collins is an educator, writer, and activist passionate about equity in public education. Known for her fearless advocacy, Ali has championed the voices of Black, Brown, and immigrant families, authored key resolutions to desegregate schools and curriculum, and worked relentlessly to ensure every student is seen and heard. Her leadership on the San Francisco school board led to historic changes—including removing racist barriers, broadening ethnic studies access, and supporting community-driven reforms.
Ali has over 30 years experience as a classroom educator, education leader and community organizer. As the mom of twin girls Ali created SFPSMom a website focused on K-12 education policy and advocacy features over 500 articles sharing information on public school advocacy, social justice education and parenting resources.
While Ali was on the SF School Board she was virulently targeted by tech fascists and MAGA supporters during the beginning of the COVID epidemic in 2020-2023. Like many Black educators at that time, she and her family received national right-wing media attention for promoting “woke” education policy and COVID protections in schools. As a result of this experience, Ali set out to expose those targeting social-justice educators and community organizers. In this process she began production of Just Talks Podcast, a podcast focused on uplifting voices of thought leaders explaining who is behind attacks on democracy and public education system. You can also read her writing on Medium and her SFPSMom blog.
