Ali M. Collins, We Were Seeds Collective co-founder
Ali M. Collins empowers communities to hold institutions accountable. An educator, writer, and activist with over 30 years of experience as a classroom teacher, education leader, and community organizer—and a proud mom of twin girls—her guiding belief is simple: every student deserves to feel visible and valued in the classroom, and the most vulnerable students and families deserve a real seat at the table.
On the San Francisco school board, Ali became one of its most prolific members, authoring landmark resolutions that desegregated an elite public high school, exposed racist funding mechanisms, and made Ethnic Studies accessible to all students from pre-K through 12th grade.
Recalled three years into her term through a multi-million dollar campaign backed by tech oligarchs and right-wing venture capitalists, Ali remains undeterred. Today, through her writing, podcast, and advocacy—including SFPSMom’s 500+ articles—she uplifts marginalized communities and builds networks of resistance, inspiring others to fight for a just and inclusive future.
